Heavy overnight rainfall across Central Travancore caused major rivers, including the Pampa, Manimala and Meenachil, to rise sharply, increasing the risk of flooding in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Alappuzha districts. Low-lying areas, particularly parts of Upper Kuttanad and Kuttanad, remained vulnerable as water levels continued to rise.
Authorities stepped up monitoring, moved residents from vulnerable locations where necessary and advised people to stay away from swollen rivers and waterlogged roads. Continued rainfall also disrupted traffic and raised concerns over further inundation of homes, agricultural land and village roads in flood-prone areas.
