Mannarasala Sree Nagaraja Temple, located near Haripad in Alappuzha District, is one of Kerala’s most famous temples dedicated to Nagaraja, the serpent deity. Set within a peaceful sacred grove, the temple is especially distinctive because its chief priestess is traditionally a woman known as the Mannarasala Amma.

The temple is surrounded by thousands of serpent images and is closely associated with traditional rituals, fertility prayers and serpent worship. One of its most important celebrations is the Mannarasala Ayilyam festival, when special prayers, offerings and processions are held in honour of Nagaraja. Its spiritual traditions, natural forest setting and unique cultural heritage make it an important pilgrimage and tourism destination in Alappuzha.
