The BJP has urged the Kerala government to urgently identify and provide suitable land for establishing an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Alappuzha district. Party leaders said the Centre was willing to move the proposal forward, but claimed that progress depended on the state completing the required land-allocation process.
Union Minister Suresh Gopi has repeatedly supported Alappuzha as a preferred location for the proposed AIIMS, arguing that the district needs stronger advanced healthcare infrastructure. He later said that if the state government formally acquires land in Alappuzha and communicates this in writing, further steps toward the project could be pursued.
